# How-To Steps:
- Set oven temperature to 400°F.
- Pat chickpeas dry with a paper towel and spread them on a baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and season with smoked paprika, garlic powder, chili flakes, and salt. Toss to coat evenly.
- Place baking sheet in oven and roast chickpeas for 25 to 30 minutes, shaking the pan halfway through, until golden and crunchy. Remove and set aside.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta until al dente according to package instructions. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped chilies, sautéing for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant without browning.
- Add diced tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, oregano, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Simmer for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Stir in chopped basil and adjust seasoning to taste.
- Toss cooked pasta with the arrabbiata sauce, adding reserved pasta water as needed to achieve a silky consistency.
- Divide pasta among serving bowls. Top each portion generously with roasted chickpeas, grated cheese, and extra basil leaves.
